Anita Briem hails from Iceland. She is best known as Hannah, the character she was on the film Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) and her portrayal of Jane Seymour in the TV series The Tudors. Briem started her acting career at age 9 in the National Theater in Iceland. As a kid, she was an actor in Iceland, participating in TV and radio plays. Briem relocated from Iceland to London at the age of 16 which is where she took part in a stage show called Lenin's Love. Briem 19 years old, she was admitted to The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. There she studied for three consecutive years. Briem earned her degree in Drama, and was awarded the John Barton Prize under the Scenic Fight category. While studying at RADA he participated in many plays, including The Cherry Garden by Anton Chekhov and Bernarda Alba's residence from Federico Garcia Lorca .
